COMMUNITY EDUCATION -Music Classes
ABC Adult School is committed to offering community-based enrichment classes designed to promote learning and social development and to improve the quality of life for students of all ages. We offer a diverse selection of workshops and classes designed for personal enrichment, professional development and increasing body and mind health. These classes are self-supporting and are not funded by taxpayer dollars.
The Adult School will make every effort to get a substitute (there will be no make-up classes) for community-based classes that are cancelled due to teacher illness or personal need. It may not be possible to find a substitute. If the class is cancelled for any reason, there will be no refunds, no make ups, or vouchers given.
There will be no class for the following dates: 11/11, 11/23, 11/24, 11/25, 11/26, 11/27, 12/21, 12/22, 12/23, 12/24, 12/25, 12/28, 12/29, 12/30, 12/31, 1/1, and 1/18.
Quarterly Registration Fee is based on a minimum of 20 students enrolled:

CHOIR (Taught in Chinese)
All Welcome! Learn to improve your ear and sing songs for harmony. This class will help you sing better in a non-judgmental, fun environment. We’ll work on breath support and basic techniques, using songs and styles from around the world. Professor Li was a renown conductor/composer at ShenYang Music College in China for the last 20+ years.
GUITAR - Beginning/Easy Intermediate
Learn to play the songs we all grew up with, as well as fun and exciting pop and classic rock songs with 5 different strumming patterns, basic chords, tabs, and techniques. Acoustic guitar needed.
LEARN TO PLAY ERHU WITH THE MUSIC MASTER
You can learn to play the erhu - a two-stringed violin of extraordinary beauty. The erhu produces the most characteristic sounds of Chinese music and is used heavily in Chinese filmography and dramatic performances. Students will need to bring his/her own erhu or purchase in class upon request. Click here, here or here listen to Erhu music.
UKULELE - Beginning/Easy Intermediate
A beginning and intermediate course in Hawaiian, Tin Pan Alley (1915-1930) and other songs/styles up to today. Basic music theory and vamps will be included. Students may use any type of ukulele and must furnish their own instrument. There will be a year end performance. Singers and guitarists are also welcome.
